In Afghanistan, the Taliban regime takes part in a training exercise and conducts military operations within its own borders. One such event was the operation to supply a helicopter carrying supplies to the fighters on a mission, known as RIA-F.

RIA-F flew a drone over the southern province of Shashk. Over 5,000 Taliban fighters were on standby in the airspace after providing humanitarian assistance. The pilot, identified as Abu Suleiman, was killed by the Taliban and was returned to his base.

A spokesman for the Afghan Army said they were informed by the Taliban that the helicopter was being repaired as part of a training mission conducted by the Taliban, but continued to perform noncombat duties after a brief pause.

The Taliban is believed to be involved in large scale drug operations in Afghanistan and has also been involved in the operations over large areas such as the mountainous mountainous south Caucasus. In these operations, drones are used for civilian purposes.
